Stepping Stones of
Faith
Confirmation Retreats
| Confirmation
is a very pivotal time in the faith formation of our
church’s young people. Understanding the significance
of this period, we at Camp Lutherhaven would like to
assist congregations in molding the spiritual growth of
those in that age group.
“It was great praising God, learning, and enjoying the
powerful moments
of prayer and celebration.”
— Youth Attendee

In the fall of
2000, Camp Lutherhaven was awarded a grant from the Lilly
Endowment. One of the main components in the writing of this
grant was to initiate a program that would specifically assist
congregations in supplementing their current confirmation
programs. Lutherhaven seeks to add to your existing confirmation
program a retreat experience that would focus on three primary
goals. These faith-formation retreats will:
- Nurture a more personal
relationship between youth and Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
- Nurture a daily,
lifelong commitment to prayer and personal devotions with God in his
Word.
- Develop a close,
Christian community among participants, especially those from the same
congregation.
It is with these three
goals in mind that our programs have been developed. You may notice that
instruction of doctrine is not included as a primary goal as we know that
this is traditionally a strength of each congregation’s confirmation
program.
“It is a great weekend to integrate into your confirmation
ministry.”
— Adult Leader Participant
Since 2001, Camp Lutherhaven
has been excited to be a part of the programming for over 30
confirmation
retreats. With this experience we are eager to partner with your congregation
in a way that best fits your program. You're invited to be a part of a
retreat planned:
-
October 26-28, 2007
-
November 2-4, 2007
-
January 11-13, 2008
-
January 18-20, 2008
-
March 14-16, 2008
-
August 22-24, 2008
Or call to plan your own dates.
We want to best accommodate your group.
Step
2
By request, a second track for returning Stepping Stones of Faith participants
has been added. For churches with youth who would like to participate a second
time, an alternate curriculum has been constructed to build off of their
previous sessions and experience. The format will allow returnees to
participate with the entire group for the team-building and large group
activities while using small group time to be encouraged and equipped to grow in
their faith in new ways.
Cost
The registration cost of $86 per confirmand includes five meals, two snacks,
two–nights lodging, and a full weekend of programming. The cost also includes
at least one free chaperone for every seven youth participants of each gender.
Retreats last from 7:00 pm Friday through 1:00 pm Sunday (EST).
