Homeschool Outdoor Education

Since
1969, Lutherhaven has provided facilities and
programming for educators in Indiana, Ohio, and
Michigan.
As we continue to grow, our goal is to be a
resource for your family and your home school
association. Consider the possibilities Lutherhaven can
provide, both in facilities and programming, and let us
know how we can assist you.
Individuals
This year, day trips
offered for individual home school students will be
offered twice a month for grades 1 – 5, and once a month
for students in grades 6 – 8. Check the schedules below
to see what will work best for your family.
Homeschool
Groups
G.O.A.L! (Get Out And
Learn!) trips to Camp are half day and day long learning
sessions for homeschool groups with topics that are
seasonally appropriate. Each G.O.A.L! trip will be
tailored to each group's needs. You can schedule a
G.O.A.L! trip to Camp Lutherhaven anytime as long as
there is availability. Contact us for more
information.

Grades 1-5
Monthly Field Trips to Camp Lutherhaven,
Albion IN
Field
trips will be offered twice for 1 – 5th grade students during the second and
forth Monday of each month throughout the school year. For just $7 per student,
field trips will begin with registration at 9:00 a.m. and will last until 2:30
p.m. Bring your own lunch. These events will use a variety of learning
activities and styles. Field trips will be limited to 30 students. Please
phone or email to register your child(ren). No walk-ins can be accepted. Field trip
topics will include:

Mondays, September 10 or 24, 2007 -
Flower Power - Come out for the day and see
pollinators in action, it’s more than just your typical honeybee!

Mondays, October 8 or 22, 2007 –
Birds of a Feather – It’s that time of year
when millions of birds make their semi annual journey. Learn about birds
through a variety of activities!

Mondays, November 12 or 26, 2007 –
You Gotta Eat! - How do animals survive?
Food chains, pyramids, and webs will be covered.

Mondays, December 3 or 17, 2007 –
Mammal Animals - There are a variety that
live here in Northeast Indiana, and also a variety that have lived here.
We will learn about as many as we can in our time together.

Mondays, January 14 or 28, 2008 –
Snow & Ice – The middle of winter is a
great time to study about the magnificent and incredible properties of
water, in all three forms- Liquid, solid, and gas!

Mondays, February 11 or 25, 2008 –
It’s a Jungle out there! - Learn about a variety of exotic
species that have made their home in Indiana. Some are harmless, others
are harmful – Come and find the differences!

Mondays, March 10 or 24, 2008 –
Light Studies - Mr. Golden Sun has many
benefits that we experience every day (and night!). Pray for good
weather for this outing!

Mondays, April 14 or 28, 2008 –
Amphibians of Indiana - Those creatures
that scurry and crawl, see how unique they really are in the realm of
God’s creation!
Grades 6-8
Monthly Field Trips to Camp Lutherhaven,

trips will happen for 6 - 8th grade students normally during the third Monday of
every month throughout the school year. For just $7 per student, field trips

Pollen & Pollinators - Come out for the
day and see pollinators in action; it’s more than just your typical
honeybee!

Monday, October 15, 2007 –
Birds of a Feather - There are over 300
species of birds found in Indiana. Learn about flocks, migration
patterns and more.

Monday, November 19, 2007 –
Predator / Prey Relations - Food Chains,
Food webs, and energy cycles will be experienced on this day of
learning.

Monday, December 10, 2007 –
Mammals of Indiana - Come out today and
learn at a middle school level about some of the most popular animals
called the mammals.

Monday, January 21, 2008 –
Water properties - We will cover God’s life
sustaining gift to us in its three forms; Solid, gas, and liquid.

Monday, February 18, 2008 –
Alien Species - They’re out there!
Surrounding us! And they are in plant and animal form! Be Prepared!
There are Aliens among us!!!

Monday, March 17, 2008 –
Light Studies - We experience the benefits
of the Sun at day and night. Pray for good weather during our time
together.

Monday, April 21, 2008 –
Indiana Amphibians - Those creatures that scurry and crawl, learn
how unique they really are in the realm of God’s Creation!
