Celine Newman is the newest addition to the full time staff, serving as Program Director since 2007. Celine was born and raised in the town of Gallup, NM where she lived with her mother, Donna, father, Marvin, and brother, William. In high school she was actively involved in youth group, soccer, swimming and band. She attended college at Concordia University, Irvine, CA, where she continued her music studies with oboe, handbells, and directing and as a Director of Christian Education. Executive Director

Tim Jank, formally a Director of Christian Education (DCE) near Chicago IL, joined the ministry of Camp Lutherhaven in 1993 as Executive Director. While in college, Tim discovered how exciting and unique outdoor ministry could be after spending three summers at Sonrise Lutheran Outdoor Ministry, a camp in upstate New York. His interests include computers, music, photography, sports, and of course, being a Dad. He and his wife Brenda met at Concordia College, Seward, NE where they both graduated in the DCE program. They have five children; Joshua, Samuel, Joseph, Anna and Noah.

Office Administrator

Peggy Kreger is currently serving in this position after joining the Lutherhaven year-round staff in August 2004. She previously was the store manager for Family Christian Stores in Fort Wayne, IN. Living in Noble County as a young girl, Peggy has always enjoyed camping. Peggy became a Christian at a church camp many years ago and feels blessed to be a part of the ministry of Camp Lutherhaven. Peggy and her husband, Bill, now reside in Churubusco with their four children, Kenneth, Barbara, Elizabeth, and Jedidiah. In her free time, Peggy enjoys scrapbooking and cross-stitch. The family recently became involved in Civil War re-enacting. Although Peggy enjoys her role as an 1860's civilian woman, (cooking over the open campfire, quilting, and portraying her first-person role as Louisa LeGrand), she says, "I never really appreciated a comfy pair of sweats as much as I do since re-enacting. Corsets and petticoats get awful heavy and cumbersome just by the end of the weekend. No wonder those women always looked tired!" The Kreger's also enjoy "modern" tent camping as a family.

Ministry Impact Staff

Camp Lutherhaven is pleased to welcome Elan Williams as its newest Ministry Impact Worker. Elan began serving this position in August 2009 and will continue to serve until May of 2010.

Elan grew up in Fort Wayne and went to Concordia Lutheran High School and tried to stay busy playing football and baseball.  He also attended Emmaus Lutheran Church and was involved with his youth group and church ball.   Elan attended Indiana University-Purdue University in Fort Wayne and is still pursuing his General Studies degree.

One thing you should know about Elan is that he is an avid (extremely loyal and crazed) fan of the University of Kansas and a fan of Notre Dame football.   His is currently attempting to learn how to play the guitar for the eighth consecutive year and has his fingers firmly crossed.  Elan enjoys all kinds of music and often finds himself watching movies of a variety of genres.  He is also an avid reader and is currently reading a book called The Story of Christianity, by Justo Gonzalez.

Elan has always found inspiration in the words of 1st Timothy 1:15-16, It is a trustworthy statement, deserving in full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost of all.  Yet for this reason I found mercy, so that in me as the foremost, Jesus Christ might demonstrate His perfect patience as an example for those who would believe in Him for eternal life.  It inspires him to remember to always look at the good in people and remember that there is always salvation in Christ.   Elan looks forward to everything that this year has to offer and all the ways he may grow.

The Ministry Impact position at Camp Lutherhaven runs from August to May. If you or anyone you know might be interested in this unique opportunity for Fall 2010, please contact the Camp office at 260.636.7101. Applications are accepted at any time.

We ask the Lord's blessings on his continued service.
